Work is Circular

Ian Thursfield recorded on 25/11/21

Ian Thursfield is your friendly, local zero-waster. He likes to re-use bread bags and enjoys litter picking with his daughters. Happy to answer any questions you have (ask his 5yo, he really does answer e-v-e-r-y question!) that would help you on your zero-waste journey.

Ian's shop, Leeds Refills, is located at Hyde Park Corner and has a full range of items for your complete zero waste shopping needs. Their main goal is to help you to reduce the amount of single-use plastic being used to get products to you. So much of our food today comes pre-wrapped in LOTS of single-use plastic but that’s not going to stand with Leeds Refills! Leeds Refills aim to source all of their food and products in plastic-free or very minimal packaging to help cut the plastic supply chain.

Leeds Refills has a full selection of refill dry food goods, toiletries, household cleaners, kitchen and homewares available, just bring some containers (or use a paper bag on them) down to Hyde Park corner and get refilling!

About the Podcast

Working Hours
The Story of Work in Leeds in the 2020s
What do you do?
Western Studios, Leeds presents Working Hours: a podcast series surveying the people of Leeds on their thoughts and feelings on the topic of work. I want to talk to my city about work. Why do we do it? Do we like it? What could we do differently? What will we? How does work change and how does it change us?
Leeds, the largest city in the largest county on the UK mainland, is a former imperial textile centre and is now a major UK financial centre. This series will document the city’s experiences through Lockdown, Brexit, creeping technological unemployment, new and continuing resource wars, the ongoing dismantling of the welfare state and our accelerating ecological emergency.
If you are in Leeds or from Leeds then help me to reach my target of interviewing 1000 Loiners over the 2020s. Let me ask you, what do you do?
